Privacy Schedule for BSS Committee Members
This schedule sets out the details of our processing of personal information of our committee members.
It is important that you read this section of our privacy schedule together with the main section of our privacy policy. This is so that you are fully aware of how your information is used and your individual rights. The committee terms of reference explain the activities and expectations of the roles.

- We may collect your background, knowledge and skillsets relevant to your committee work.
- Records of your committee related activities with BSS
How we use your information
We collect and use information from you when you request volunteering information from us, or when you express an interest in becoming or agree to be a committee member or volunteer with BSS, whether face to face, at an event, online (including via social media), by postal form or over the telephone.
We use your information to inform you about committee and other meetings, to facilitate the work of the BSS and achieve stakeholder input. This requires the sharing of contact details with specifically other committee member and volunteers, BSS staff, consultants and contractors.
We may use your information to inform you about induction and training and about how and when committee meeting or volunteering activity is happening and to keep records of your volunteering
Legal basis of processing your personal data
This personal information is essential for us to collect and use to identify and communicate with BSS Committee members and volunteers in an effective and efficient manner. BSS rely upon legitimate interest as the legal basis for processing this personal data.
In regard to volunteer work, we may require health information on the basis that it is necessary to assess volunteer’s ability to assist in the working environment and we do not wish to risk accident or injury arising out of a known health condition. We also need to use your data in this way either to meet our legal obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 or for reasons of legitimate interest in organising our volunteering activities in an effective and efficient way.
If you withdraw consent for us to use your data in this way you would not be able to be a committee member or volunteer with us.
How We Share This Data
We may allow our staff, other volunteers, consultants and/or external suppliers or organisations acting on our behalf to access and use your information for the purposes for which you have provided it to us (for example to process payments and organise your volunteering activity). We ensure they only have access to data necessary for them to perform the service we have asked them to do.
